HANLEY FOUNDATION WELCOMES FAMILIES TO 24th ANNUAL FAMILY PICNIC

Family time the focus for March 10 benefit while raising funds for substance abuse prevention

(West Palm Beach, Fla.) – It will be a Palm Beach picnic on Sunday, March 10, 2019, when Hanley Foundation holds its 24th Annual Family Picnic at the National Croquet Center in West Palm Beach. This year’s benefit will include a one-of-a-kind silent auction, gourmet food, face painting, animal encounters and entertainment for the entire family.

Leading this year’s benefit are Co-Chairs Kelly and Joe Rooney and Nika and Mark Ciarfella. Honorary Chairs are Kai Li Fouts and Chris Jette. Funds raised are earmarked to support the Foundation’s research-based prevention programs in public and private schools, including many schools in Palm Beach County.

“Amid the nation’s largest opioid epidemic to date, Hanley Foundation’s work is helping to thwart the crisis of tomorrow,” said Jan Cairnes, CEO of Hanley Foundation. “All dollars raised by the 2019 Family Picnic will help fund prevention and education programming. Your ongoing support assures the Foundation will be able to continue its life-saving work.”

The Family Picnic committee includes Lyanne Azqueta, Abigail Beebe, CJ Benoit, Tory and Mike Casey, Michelle and Bob Diffenderfer, Rachel and Steve Docekal, Linda and Mike Hanley, Sabra Kirkpatrick, Kim Koslow, Fran Marcone and David Werner, Buck Martinez, Taylor and James Schneider, Tracy Walker Smith and Krissy Webb.

“Hanley Foundation’s research and evidence-based approach to prevention work encourages affirmative peer support and education utilizes positive messages versus scare tactics.” said Turner Benoit, Chief Development Officer for Hanley Foundation. “Last year, Hanley Foundation provided more than $3 million in prevention and education services in Florida, impacting the lives of 65,000 students, parents and caregivers. In addition, statistics have shown that family time is time well spent when it comes to preventing substance abuse. Bring your whole family and join us on March 10th for some Palm Beach picnic fun, while benefiting an important cause.”

Sponsors for the 24th Annual Hanley Foundation Family Picnic include Amy and Drew Rothermel, Florida Crystals, Hanley Family Foundation, Laura Fuller, The Mary Alice Fortin Foundation, Sarah Cortvriend, Toshiba Business Solutions Florida, Sunny and Abe Rosenberg Foundation, Palm Beach Kennel Club and Palm Beach Society Magazine.

In the early 1980s, Mary Jane and Jack Hanley retired to Palm Beach County to discover the absence of any facilities dedicated to quality substance abuse treatment. Through the couple’s visionary leadership and great support from the community, Hanley Center and the Hanley Center Foundation were established. Nearly 40 years later and now expanded throughout Florida, the community continues to recognize the stand-alone Hanley Foundation with great support for its thought leadership, grantmaking and evidence-based programming. The charitable 501(c)(3) organization provides statewide resources for substance use disorder advocacy, education and access to quality treatment. The organization’s prevention programming is available to schools, churches and community groups through grant funding provided by the Florida Department of Children and Families, office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health. With your support, the Hanley Foundation is taking critical steps to change the conversation around substance use disorders.

Tickets to the Family Picnic are $195 for adults (18 and over), $50 per child (4-17 years of age), and children 3 and under are free.
